| Born in Bangor, North Wales, Tammy Jones began singing in the proud Welsh tradition at a very early age. Soon established as a regular on both radio and television in her native Wales, she then starred in her own TV series "Tammy". Guest spots followed on English television with Benny Hill, Tom Jones, The Bachelors, Dick Emery and Morecambe & Wise as well as an appearances at the London Palladium and the Royal Command Performance in front of HRH Princess Anne. Cabaret appearances were both national and international with visits to Poland, Israel, Zimbabwe, America, Canada, Africa, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Argentina. In 1975 Tammy appeared on television's top rated show, Opportunity Knocks. She won the show six weeks in succession and notched up the highest viewers' voting figures ever. Her recording "Let Me Try Again" reached number 5 in the music charts. She appeared in the "Song for Europe" TV programme singing "Love's a Carousel" which proved to be a minor hit and followed up by winning "Opportunity Knocks" Satellite Show in a TV link up with Australia. She appeared in summer shows and played lead roles in pantomimes with top well known artists such as Les Dawson, Craig Douglas, Charlie Drake and many more. Her repertoire consists of comedy, songs across the board, from 50s, 60s, 70s, including Gospel, Country, and middle of the road popular music. |
