Biography ~ TAMMY JONES

Born in Bangor, North Wales, Tammy Jones began singing in the proud Welsh tradition at a very early age. Soon established as a regular on both radio and television in her native Wales, she then starred in her own TV series "Tammy". Guest spots followed on English television with Benny Hill, Tom Jones, The Bachelors, Dick Emery and Morecambe & Wise as well as an appearances at the London Palladium and the Royal Command Performance in front of HRH Princess Anne. Cabaret appearances were both national and international with visits to Poland, Israel, Zimbabwe, America, Canada, Africa, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Argentina.

In 1975 Tammy appeared on television's top rated show, Opportunity Knocks. She won the show six weeks in succession and notched up the highest viewers' voting figures ever. Her recording "Let Me Try Again" reached number 5 in the music charts. She appeared in the "Song for Europe" TV programme singing "Love's a Carousel" which proved to be a minor hit and followed up by winning "Opportunity Knocks" Satellite Show in a TV link up with Australia.

Tammy has cruised worldwide for P&O and Holland America Lines.

She appeared in summer shows and played lead roles in pantomimes with top well known artists such as Les Dawson, Craig Douglas, Charlie Drake and many more.

During the past few years, Tammy has combined her cabaret with another of her great loves, country music. She has appeared and recorded in Nashville as well as doing a TV documentary for Welsh Television and is now both recognised and established as a prominent figure in the world of country music with frequent club and theatre performances with regular full house success. Because of her love for gospel music she was invited to appear on `Highway' with Sir Harry Secombe.

Tammy was a citizen of New Zealand for a number of years where she continued her singing and entertaining usually with her own shows just as she has done in most parts of the world. She has now returned to the UK where in 1975 world record sales made her the most successful female artiste that year.

Her repertoire consists of comedy, songs across the board, from 50s, 60s, 70s, including Gospel, Country, and middle of the road popular music.

Tammy is self contained with professional backing discs which are ideal for most overseas work as well as local shows. She is available for tours, day/evening shows, theatres, hotels, country music events, and tourist venues. She is an accomplished compere too.

Tammy's wide repertoire and her sing-a-longs have proved popular. Her CDs are readily available. Her lovely Welsh voice is as faultless and appealing as ever. Now an established "easy-listening" country music singer Tammy takes you back in time with nostalgic favourites from Patsy Cline, Anne Murray, Jim Reeves, and many many more. Her Welsh humour remains even from childhood days, and her recent shows geared for retired and/or senior citizens, are both popular and much appreciated.

In the 60s Tammy was a top rated cabaret artiste entertaining people with lovely ballads such as "No Regrets", My Way", "The Day That the Rains Came Down", as well as her hit songs including "Let Me Try Again". With a voice trained for opera at the Guildhall School of Music, London, this was her forte for many years. She had albums released in the UK with 30 piece orchestral backing and in 1976 was voted the second best female vocalist in Britain.

Such wide experience and indisputable international success spanning over 30 years equips Tammy to provide great entertainment almost anywhere - anytime.
